Hey Ben, thanks for the kind words! Yeah, Josh Awtry, our previous editor spearheaded the redesign. A lot of us were skeptical at first, but I had faith. The pages have been easier to make look elegant for sure. The speed of building a page has also increased dramatically, at least for me. Unfortunately, I didn't enter any pages, and I'm beginning to regret it. It was a really busy time of year for us when the deadline came and went. Though I must say our night editor encouraged us to send some pages in, but I hadn't enough money to send the pages in. It's tough bein' a journo :P I did send some of my pages last year to the SPJ (I think it was?) contest, but no awards came my way. There's always next year.

For now, I'm happy to be noticed on a site like this where news designers around the world meet and critique/showcase newspaper designs. It's also nice to make it to the Top 10 fronts on the Newseum site. Your work looks great, so you better keep up the good work, too!

Hi There,

I work over at the Idaho State Journal and I have to say I really like the direction you guys are going with your design. These are some nice looking pages.  Good job. I hope you guys entered some of these in the Idaho Press Club awards.
