I've been monitoring gas prices ever since the start of the year, when I built a fever chart showing how they had fallen over several weeks. Prices bottomed out in late January at $1.69 per gallon but then -- on Feb. 3 -- leaped 20¢ per gallon overnight. Since then, prices have slowly risen, mostly in fairly large lurches. I felt it important to show this… however, I also acknowledge that prices aren't nearly as high as they were just a year ago. I made sure to collect data going back more than a year. Reporter Melissa Crowe put together a story to help explain why this is happening. May 17, 2015
