Not only a seven-story front with dual centerpieces (local news played higher, of course), but the Bergen Record and I obviously loved that Clinton photo (though we obviously played up different angles). I wholeheartedly credit this visual style to living just north of Orlando from 1977-1993 and inhaling The Orlando Sentinel's approach. I also worked there a few months as a part-time copy editor and still have a copy of their early-’80s visual style guide. Their use of bastard measures in the service of properly playing the content was a thing to behold, and their use of notched mugs to break up bottom-of-page headlines thrilled me no end. So I did it, too.
