This was kind of a sequel to my July 11 plane crash page. My boss told me she really liked that one and the big natural disasters page from May. I wisecracked that it was all "disaster porn"… but then got to thinking about how I might hit these topics again. I was struck by how many of these disasters were caused by dumbass stuff like overloading ships and trains and then ignoring simple safety rules. Letting a passenger cook on a portable stove? Really? Yes, really. After I built this page, I bumped it back three or four times. Aug. 8, 2013.
