OH! OK -- I see it now -- I missed the rip in the "whiter, newer" paper at this size. Really nice.

I just wanted to have the effect that the new ripped paper overlapped the old one and if you removed it then you will see the whole old head and sub underneath.

I really love this, but the implied transparency at the top is bothering me. It also requires a great deal of unused "aged newspaper" space at the top, which affects the realism. What was the thought process behind that? I feel like there is an effect that was intended but maybe I'm not seeing. Very cool page, though.
