It's rather a bit of all:
First: I look for photos or illustrations of the vehicles, reference is indispensable.

I come second: I realize a sketch to pencil to define the best angle to tell the story

Third: Drawing on free-line hand vehicles, then, I scan. Finally in Adobe Illustrator in vectorial way I finish the work. Still If I have some time, I can add details in Photoshop, but I do it with news that are not immediate.

Excellent, please tell me drawing trucks and cars, are they based on linear art or free hand work or traced from actually truck/car photos later modified, I'm asking this only on learning purpose.
