When the Rocky commissioned the stories, the rules were:
-- 2000 words
-- pick a decade in Denver's history as setting; no two stories from same decade
-- mention Larimer Street -- one of the original streets downtown -- somewhere in the story
-- the twelfth story would be chosen from reader submissions and be set in the future.
About the illustrations: Rocky artist Chas Chamberlin wandered Larimer Street with his camera. He layered the photos he shot and created multiple exposures in Photoshop, then manipulated colors until he had an image he felt spoke to the story itself.
