Our front page on Sept. 11, 2011. I didn't want to show people in mourning - we're all mourning. I didn't want to show images from the day - we all remember. The reoccurring theme of our local stories was the changes we've seen since 9/11, and the changes we're still facing. With that in mind, I decided to show the changes the day's events have made to the most iconic skyline in the world. I didn't want to use tinted boxes, or a perspective shot of the city. I did it straight on, and allowed the negative space of the type to cause the columns of text -- meant to convey the Twin Towers -- to remain somewhat transparent. I wanted the reader to recognize what they represent, but at the same time be able to look "through" them and be reminded just how much was lost that day.
