My day-two front. I worked eight straight days that week, seven designing and helping photo edit the front page, and the eighth day shaping the wire report on the attacks. Part of my inspiration during the week was the Miami Herald's stellar Hurricane Andrew fronts, which aggressively varied the visual attack day to day. Our editor, Henry Freeman, made a great call by asking editors from the Daily Oklahoman in Oklahoma City to chat with us about how to cope while covering a crisis of this magnitude. One of the most mundane details I remember among all the numb nights was a trail of liquid that leaked from a container of Chinese food that was wheeled in one night; I believe that trail is still on the rug in the hall that runs from the back entrance past graphics and photo toward the newsroom.
