Looking for a talented page designer for Idaho paper

The Idaho Falls Post Register is looking for a creative page designer who is well-versed in AP style and headline writing. We need someone eager to join an energetic team intent on improving the newspaper’s presentation.

The ideal candidate must be a quick-thinking, versatile editor with solid news judgment and the imagination needed to make designs pop. Commitment to accuracy is a must. Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of InDesign is preferred.

We may be a smaller paper, but we like to take risks. There is a lot of freedom on the desk to design and create, and it's a great job for those just starting out who want to get some experience.

A regional daily with a circulation of 20,000, the Post Register recently was honored by SPJ as the best small paper in the Northwest. Idaho Falls is less than two hours from Yellowstone and the Tetons and minutes away from world-class fly-fishing, hiking, skiing and hunting. The area frequently lands on national top 10 lists for its quality of life.

The community is eastern Idaho's regional hub for health care, banking, shopping and transportation. It is home to a major Department of Energy laboratory and provides numerous cultural opportunities.

Send your resume, cover letter, references and best page design and editing samples, including alternative story forms, infographics and illustrations. Salary is between $14 to $15 an hour depending on experience. Email Managing Editor Rob Thornberry at rthornberry@postregister.com. No calls, please.
