The Tampa Bay Times has job openings for experienced sports designers. This is a great opportunity for creative, collaborative designers as we are currently revamping our sports coverage, including presentation in print and on the web.

Tampa Bay is a fun place to live: Beaches, theme parks, breweries and the arts abound. And St. Petersburg is a growing city with a vibrant downtown and waterfront. As I’m sure you know, we have three pro teams (Bucs, Rays and Lightning); plus we cover extensively three college football programs (Florida State, Florida and South Florida); and the Rowdies, currently campaigning for an MLS expansion spot.

We are a small, close-knit team of designers that is committed to great design and great journalism, and we are looking for those who:

  • are creative
  • have at least a couple years of experience in print design at a daily newspaper
  • want to design sports pages (that means nights)
  • have experience with web projects
  • know and love sports, from high school to pro
  • respect and make deadlines
  • like collaboration, but are self-starters

Must-have skills:
Photoshop
InDesign
InCopy

Preferred skills:
Illustrator
Basic html
Good understanding of css styling
