The Hutchinson News, an award-winning multimedia organization, is seeking copy editors/page designers to fill two openings on its universal desk. These roles involve designing news, sports and feature pages with flair; editing stories for both print and digital products with a critical eye for clarity, accuracy and grammar; and writing enticing headlines. Ideal candidates should have a working knowledge of sports and experience designing pages and editing under tight deadlines. In addition to a college degree in journalism, communications, English or a related area of study, candidates should possess command of grammar, spelling and AP style, solid headline-writing skills and knowledge of Adobe InDesign. Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Blox TCMS and CMS is also a plus. The News has a rich tradition of producing great journalism, winning the sweepstakes awards for overall excellence in the Kansas Press Association the past three years. Its history includes the 1965 Pulitzer Prize for Community Service. Send inquiries to Ron Sylvester, managing editor/news director: rsylvester@hutchnews.com
