Shaw Media’s operation in suburban Chicago has an exciting opportunity for an experienced copy editor and page designer to work on its universal copy desk in Crystal Lake, Ill.

The universal desk is responsible for editing and designing a group of daily and hyperlocal weekly newspapers that cover towns across the suburbs of Chicago, including in McHenry, Will, DuPage, Kane and suburban Cook counties.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly and accurately design dynamic broadsheet and tab-sized pages. Applicants should have a solid knowledge of AP Style and grammar. The successful candidate will possess above average attention to detail, the ability to accurately edit copy and write headlines for news, sports and features. This position requires day and evening hours working on multiple publications, as assigned.

Candidates should have a college degree in journalism or related field and previous experience in copy editing and page design, preferably using inDesign. Photoshop experience a plus.
