Staff photographer Craig Dilger and I came up with the concept and execution for this photo illustration. The story was on how to sneak vegetables into meals to make sure your kids eat enough. After brainstorming we came up with the idea of a muffin as a UFO abducting a vegetable. Craig sculpted the broccoli and we shot it and the muffin in our studio. He put the two together in Photoshop, added the desert scene and the lighting effects. I tweaked the lights to be more of a green color, added the cream-colored border and distressed the image to look like a B-movie poster. The rest was done in InDesign.
